Hiring Slows in May

The U.S. Labor Department reported this morning that the unemployment rate is up 0.1% from April, with only 54,000 new jobs having been added in May. The latest data has sent markets ‘tumbling’, as the New York Times reports, and economists are worried by the unusual employment numbers that were expected to go up this time around.
