What the White House Said To Urban Entrepreneurs

June 10, 2011 § Leave a comment

High unemployment continues to affect the job market, especially for the young, urban populations. According to a recent Bureau of Labor Statistics report, the overall national rate of unemployment is 9.1 percent.

With this in mind, the White House convened the Urban Entrepreneurship Summit at Rutgers University in Newark, N.J., on Monday, June 6th. The day-long conference aimed to assist minority small business owners by bringing together government officials, private and non-profit funders and leading entrepreneurs. Attendees were encouraged to voice questions and share information in a bid to spur growth opportunities in urban areas.

White House officials that attended the event included Don Graves, executive director of the President’s Council on Jobs & Competitiveness and Scott Case, CEO of the Startup America Partnership. Read for more information on the summit and the positive outcomes and ideas that came from it.
